description
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
-Coordinate activities assigned to members of the electrical design team, to meet expectations of the lead Electrical Engineer and Client representatives, including the preparation of design drawings and studies
-Initiate and execute electrical power systems studies and calculations.
-Prepare technical reports, and Client correspondences / presentations.
-Prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for: Procurement of major electrical equipment & construction document packages
-Review selections of appropriate materials and equipment
-Prepare drawing / document lists, with associated engineering / planning budgets.
-Coordinate project design work duties and prepare schedules of engineering work.
-Coordinate work with other disciplines, other offices and other project team members.
-Visit project sites and other design offices for project related activities, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-University Degree in Electrical Engineering, including classes in electrical power system analysis and electrical machines.
-Solid written and verbal communication skills.
-Experience in power distribution and substation equipment common to heavy industry, including low-voltage thru 1kV, medium-voltage to 72kV, and high-voltage to 240kV.
-Experience in supervision and coordination of electrical design team, including preparation of drawing lists and budget hours.
-Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills, and to handle multiple tasks.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
-Experience in power system analysis / calculations, including SKM software calculations.
-The ideal candidate will be required to have business development skills and be able to oversee 10 direct reports.
Electrical Engineer - Power Studies
Search on ELECTRICAL + ENGINEER + P.Eng + LOAD FLOW + ANALYSIS + [INDUSTRIAL or MINING or PETROCHEMICAL] + [ETAP or SKM or CYME].
The individual should have 10-15 years of experience, specifically in the power systems analysis field as well as a four-year degree. A Master's degree will be an advantage.
